Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the length of your stay in Eswatini. Airlines at Ben Gurion may check this before boarding — carry a printed copy of your itinerary just in case.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Eswatini
Immigration at King Mswati III International Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or card for your stay
Have at least 5,000 SZL (or equivalent in USD/EUR) available in cash or on a card. Immigration may ask to see it, especially if you arrive without a return ticket.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Eswatini, not from your departure date. If it's close to expiring, renew before you travel.
No extensions — plan accordingly
The 30-day visa-free stay cannot be extended for any reason. If you need more time, you must leave the country and re-enter, or get a proper visa beforehand.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at border crossing or airport
Most visitors fly into King Mswati III International Airport (SHO) near Manzini. Land border crossings from South Africa and Mozambique are also common. At the immigration counter, hand over your passport and return ticket if asked.
2
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with a visitor's entry valid for up to 30 days. There's no fee. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. Green channel if you have nothing to declare. You're in.
