Israeli passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The application is entirely online and takes about 2–3 business days to process. As of 2026, there is no visa-on-arrival option for tourism — you must have the eVisa approved before you fly.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official Uganda eVisa portal. Processing takes 2–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will check it before stamping you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Israeli passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Uganda. Uganda does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines may check — if your passport expires within 3 months of travel, renew it before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Entebbe Airport will ask for proof of onward travel — a return flight or a ticket to your next destination. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone. Airlines also check this before boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or a letter of invitation from your host speeds things up. If you're staying with friends, ask them to write a simple letter with their address and phone number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Immigration officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing available funds — $200–$300 USD per week is a safe benchmark.Recommended
No visa on arrival — apply early
Uganda no longer offers visa on arrival for Israeli passport holders. You must have the eVisa approved before you fly. Apply at least 7 days before departure to avoid last-minute stress.
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and pay a fee). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) by credit card. You'll get a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2–3 business days. Check your email (and spam folder) for the approval letter. Print it or save a PDF on your phone.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
At immigration, present your passport, the eVisa approval, and your return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process takes about 5–10 minutes if you have everything ready.
