Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Apply for eVisa or get visa on arrival
You can get a single-entry visa on arrival at Harare and Victoria Falls airports for $30 USD (cash only). Alternatively, apply online at evisa.gov.zw before travel — the eVisa costs $30 USD and takes 3–5 business days to process. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Zimbabwe. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Harare and Victoria Falls ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a bus/train ticket out of Zimbabwe ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers may ask where you are staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host ready. A simple booking.com printout works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry at least $300 USD in cash or a credit card statement. Zimbabwe has cash shortages — bring US dollars in small bills for taxis, tips, and park fees.Recommended
Bring USD cash — no cards accepted
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in US dollars cash. ATMs at the airport are unreliable, and card payments are not accepted. Bring small bills ($5, $10, $20) to avoid needing change.
Visa is not extendable
The visa on arrival is valid for 30 days and cannot be extended. If you need more time, you must leave the country and re-enter, or apply for a different visa type before you travel.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration
At Harare or Victoria Falls airport, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
2
Complete the visa application form
You'll be given a small form to fill out at the counter. It asks for basic info: name, passport number, flight number, address in Zimbabwe. Bring a pen.
3
Pay the visa fee
Hand over the completed form, your passport, and the fee in USD cash. The officer will process payment and issue a receipt. Keep the receipt — you may need it when leaving.
4
Receive your visa sticker
The officer stamps or sticks the visa into your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away. Single entry is usually valid for 30 days.
5
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your bags and walk through customs. There's usually no further check unless you're carrying restricted goods.

Frequently asked questions

The fee is $30 for a single-entry visa (valid 30 days) and $75 for a double-entry visa. Pay in USD cash only — no cards, no other currencies. Fees can change, so bring a bit extra just in case.
No, the visa on arrival is not extendable. If you need to stay longer than 30 days, you must apply for a different visa type before you travel, or leave and re-enter.
Zimbabwe requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk. Israel is not a risk country, so you don't need it if you're flying directly from Israel. But if you've recently been to a risk country (e.g., parts of South America or Africa), you'll need proof of vaccination.
Yes, most major land border crossings (like Beit Bridge from South Africa) offer visa on arrival for Israeli passport holders. The process is similar to airports — fill a form, pay in USD cash, get the sticker. But smaller crossings may not have the facility, so check ahead.
Immigration may deny you entry. They want proof you'll leave before your visa expires. If you're overlanding out, have a bus ticket or a written itinerary showing your exit plan. A screenshot of a refundable flight booked for later works too.
Yes, USD is widely accepted and preferred. Keep it in a money belt or hidden pouch. Don't flash large amounts. For the visa fee, have the exact amount ready in a separate envelope so you don't pull out your whole wad.
Zimbabwe does offer an e-visa for some nationalities, but Israeli passport holders are not currently eligible. The visa on arrival is your only option unless you apply at a Zimbabwe embassy before travel.
