Transiting through Australia
Indian passport holders transiting through Australia (including airside) generally need a Transit visa (subclass 771) unless they hold a valid Australian visa or a permanent residence visa for certain countries. Apply online via ImmiAccount.
- Holders of a valid Australian visa (including visitor, student, or permanent resident) do not need a separate transit visa.
- Holders of a valid permanent residence visa for Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, or the United States may be eligible for a transit waiver (but still must meet health and character requirements).
- Passengers transiting for less than 8 hours and staying airside may be eligible for a transit waiver if they meet all conditions, but it is not guaranteed – always check with the airline.
