Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd at least 2 weeks before travel. The portal accepts passport scans, a digital photo, and a hotel booking. Processing takes 5–10 business days — do not book flights until approved.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond entry
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into DR Congo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from DR Congo
Immigration officers at N'djili Airport in Kinshasa routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready — they may also check that your ticket is within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. The eVisa application asks for an accommodation address, and border officers may ask to see the same document.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card showing at least $200 USD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to demonstrate you are not travelling without means.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show proof of yellow fever vaccination (yellow card) upon arrival. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, passport, and return ticket as PDFs on your phone and in the cloud. Printouts are also useful in case of phone battery issues.
