What happens at the border

1
Apply for ETA online
Go to https://interior.gov.il/en/eta, fill in your passport details, personal info, and travel dates. Pay the 25 ILS fee. Approval typically comes in minutes to a few hours, but apply at least 72 hours before your flight to be safe.
2
Check your approval email
You'll receive an email with your ETA approval. Save it on your phone or print a copy. Double-check that your name and passport number match exactly — any typo means you'll need to reapply.
3
Arrive at Ben Gurion Airport (TLV)
At passport control, present your Indian passport and the ETA approval (digital or printed). The officer will scan your passport and stamp it. Be ready to answer questions about your itinerary and accommodation.
4
Exit Israel
Your ETA is valid for multiple entries within 2 years (or until passport expiry, whichever comes first). Each stay is limited to 90 days. No exit fee or extra paperwork needed.

Frequently asked questions

Most approvals come within minutes to a few hours. The official guidance says to apply at least 72 hours before your flight, but in practice it's usually much faster. If you apply on a weekend or Israeli holiday, it might take longer.
No. The ETA allows a maximum stay of 90 days per visit, and it is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to leave Israel and re-enter, but that's not guaranteed to reset the clock — overstaying can lead to fines or a ban.
No. It's an electronic travel authorization, not a visa. You don't need to visit an embassy or submit your passport. But it's still mandatory — you can't board a flight to Israel without an approved ETA.
Rejections are rare but possible. If it happens, you'll receive an email explaining the reason. You can reapply with corrected information or contact the Israeli Population and Immigration Authority. There's no appeal process, but you can try again.
Yes. Every traveller, including infants and children, needs an approved ETA. You'll need to provide their passport details and pay the 25 ILS fee for each child.
Israel doesn't ban entry based on passport stamps, but if you have stamps from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, or Yemen, you may face extra questioning. The ETA application itself doesn't ask about this, but be prepared for additional screening at the border.
You won't be allowed to board your flight. Airlines check ETA status before issuing a boarding pass. There's no 'visa on arrival' option for Indian passport holders — you must have the ETA approved in advance.
