Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport must have at least 6 months of remaining validity from your date of entry. Airlines at Indian departure airports check this strictly — they will deny boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Outbound flight within 60 days
Immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang routinely ask for proof of onward travel within the 60-day visa-free period. Budget airlines like AirAsia and Nok Air check this at check-in — have a printed or digital copy ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host address
Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a hotel booking. A printed reservation confirmation or a host's address and phone number works.Recommended
Proof of funds
20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family
Immigration can ask to see cash, traveler's cheques, or a bank statement showing at least 20,000 THB (about $550 USD) per person or 40,000 THB per family. Carry a mix of cash and a recent bank statement.Recommended
Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC)Thailand Digital Arrival Card — a free 2-minute online pre-registration at tdac.immigration.go.th. Not mandatory, but gets you through the immigration queue faster.
Optional online pre-registration
Fill in the free TDAC form at tdac.immigration.go.th before your flight. It takes 2 minutes and gives you a QR code that speeds up the immigration queue at Suvarnabhumi and Don Mueang.Open TDAC formOptional
Overstay is expensive
Overstay costs 500 THB per day. If you overstay more than 90 days, you get a 1-year ban. Set a reminder to leave before day 60.
TDAC saves time
Fill the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card at https://tdac.immigration.go.th before you fly. It lets you use a faster lane at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at immigration counter
At any Thai airport (BKK, DMK, HKT, CNX), join the 'Foreign Passport' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Hand over documents
Give the officer your passport. They may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking — have them open on your phone.
3
Get stamped in
The officer stamps your passport with a 'Visa Exempt' entry. Check the stamp says 'Admitted Until' — that's your 60-day deadline.
4
Collect luggage and exit
Proceed to baggage claim, then customs. Green channel if nothing to declare.

Overstay costs 500 THB per day (about ₹1,200). If you overstay more than 90 days, you get banned from re-entering Thailand for 1 year. Always leave on time or get a proper visa.

Airlines may deny boarding if you don't have an onward ticket. Immigration can also refuse entry. Book a refundable ticket or use a service like OnwardTicket.com to buy a temporary one.
Not required for visa-free entry. But if you look like you might work illegally or overstay, an officer can ask. Having a credit card or a few thousand baht in cash is wise.
