Iraqi passport holders need an eVisa to travel to Cameroon. You apply entirely online before flying, and you'll need your passport and a few other documents ready. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before departure. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so submit at least a week ahead. Print two copies of the approval letter — one for check-in and one for immigration at Douala or Yaoundé.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Passport must be valid for at least the full duration of your stay in Cameroon. Airlines at Baghdad International check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Douala and Yaoundé routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed itinerary or a digital copy on your phone ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. Have a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Cameroon ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card balance
Carry a bank statement or a credit card showing you can cover your stay. There is no fixed minimum, but having at least 500 USD equivalent in cash or available credit avoids delays.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination card (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, flight booking, and accommodation confirmation on your phone. Also keep printed copies in your carry-on. Phone screens can die or break.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $80-100 depending on processing speed). You'll get a confirmation email.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3-7 business days. Check your email (and spam folder) for the approval PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone.
3
Prepare your documents
Gather your passport (with 6+ months validity), the eVisa PDF, return flight booking, and first night accommodation confirmation. Keep them in a folder or on your phone.
4
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and let you through. The whole process takes 10-20 minutes if you have everything ready.
