Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Seychelles Travel Authorization (eTA)
Required for all visitors
Apply online at seychelles.govtas.com before you fly. The form asks for passport details, flight info, and accommodation. Approval usually comes within minutes — print the confirmation or save it on your phone. The fee is about $10 USD, paid by card.Apply for eTARequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the length of your stay in Seychelles. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, they may deny boarding. No 6-month rule applies here.Required
Return or onward ticket
Recommended for visa-free entry
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination. Without it, you risk being questioned or denied entry.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to show at immigration
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter from your host in Seychelles help speed things up. Officers rarely demand it, but having it ready avoids delays. If staying with friends, get their contact details and address written down.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to show if asked
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. Seychelles is expensive — $100–$150 USD per day is a reasonable benchmark. Immigration rarely asks, but budget travellers get more scrutiny.Recommended
No visa, no fee
You don't need to apply for anything before you travel. Just show up with your valid passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking. No visa fees, no forms.
Passport validity is critical
Airlines are strict about the 6-month validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you won't be allowed to board. Check your passport date before booking flights.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Seychelles International Airport (SEZ)
You'll land on Mahé island. Follow signs to Immigration. There are two queues: one for Seychellois citizens and residents, one for visitors. Join the visitors queue.
2
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and hotel booking confirmation. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. No visa fee is charged.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's nothing special to declare for personal items. You're free to exit into the arrivals hall.
