Visa on arrival
Get a visa on arrival at any international airport in Bangladesh. Pay the fee in USD (typically $51 for single entry, $130 for multiple entry) — bring exact cash. The visa is valid for 30 days and is not extendable.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Bangladesh. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at Dhaka and Chittagong airports routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital booking ready on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Bangladesh. Immigration may ask for it during the visa-on-arrival process, especially if you are staying more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash, credit card, or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card with sufficient limit. Officers occasionally ask to see proof of financial means, especially for longer stays.Recommended
Cash only at visa counter
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash — USD or EUR. No cards, no Bangladeshi Taka. Bring crisp, undamaged bills. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need cash before that point.
Visa on arrival is not extendable
You cannot extend the 30-day visa on arrival. If you need to stay longer, apply for a regular visa at a Bangladeshi embassy before you travel. Overstaying even a day can cause problems at departure.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the visa-on-arrival counter
After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before passport control. There's a separate counter — don't join the regular immigration queue.
2
Fill out the application form
Pick up a visa-on-arrival form at the counter. Fill it in with your details — name, passport number, flight info, hotel address. Keep it simple and legible.
3
Pay the visa fee in cash
Hand over your passport, form, and cash payment. Fee is around $50 USD (or equivalent in EUR). They don't accept cards or Bangladeshi Taka. Get a receipt.
4
Get your visa sticker and proceed
The officer will stamp and stick the visa into your passport. Double-check the validity dates. Then head to passport control and show your boarding pass and return ticket if asked.
