Icelandic passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cameroon for tourism or business. The eVisa is valid for up to 90 days and must be obtained online before you travel. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for Cameroon — there are no visa-on-arrival options for Icelanders.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Douala and Yaoundé will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cameroon. No specific 6-month rule applies, but airlines may enforce their own policy — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Douala and Yaoundé airports routinely asks for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Hotel booking or invitation letter from a host helps speed through immigration. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry cash (EUR or USD) or a bank statement showing sufficient funds for your stay. Immigration may ask if you look underprepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Cameroon requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which can be expensive and inconvenient). Get the shot at least 10 days before you travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport scan, and travel insurance on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printed copy, you can show the digital version at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisacameroon.com and fill out the application. You'll need to upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page, a passport-sized photo, and your travel itinerary. Pay the fee online with a credit card.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 3–5 business days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF. Print it and save a copy on your phone.
3
Pack your documents
Bring your printed eVisa, passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. Keep them in your carry-on — you'll need them at check-in and on arrival.
4
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
Most international flights arrive at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport (NSI) or Douala International Airport (DLA). Go to the immigration counter, present your passport and eVisa, and have your return ticket and accommodation ready if asked.
5
Get your passport stamped
The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and let you through. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
