Apply early — processing can be slow
The e-visa system sometimes takes the full 10 working days. Don't leave it to the last minute. Apply at least 2–3 weeks before your departure.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your e-visa PDF, passport scan, hotel booking, and return ticket in a cloud folder (Google Drive, iCloud) and on your phone. If you lose the printouts, you can still show them at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the NADRA visa portal (visa.nadra.gov.pk), create an account, fill in the application, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page, pay the fee (around $60–$100 depending on visa type), and submit. Processing usually takes 7–10 working days.
2
Receive and print your e-visa
Once approved, you'll get an e-visa PDF by email. Print at least two copies — one to hand to immigration, one as backup. Also save a digital copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at a Pakistani airport
You'll land at Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, or another international airport. Go to the 'Foreigners' queue at immigration. Hand over your passport, printed e-visa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in.
4
Show your accommodation and onward ticket
The immigration officer may ask for proof of where you're staying and your exit ticket. Have your hotel booking and return ticket ready on your phone or printed.
