Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Kazakhstan
Your passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Kazakhstan does not require 6 months validity beyond your departure date — just enough to cover your stay. Airlines may still ask for 6 months, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof of departure
Border officers at Almaty and Nur-Sultan airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave Kazakhstan within 30 days. This applies even if you plan to exit overland.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Keep a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need a local address to show. Hostels and guesthouses work fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 500 USD equivalent. Officers rarely check this for Italian passport holders, but having a recent statement on your phone avoids problems.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date, you will not be allowed to fly.
No arrival declaration needed
Unlike some other Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan does not require an arrival card or migration form. Just your passport.
