What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to the official Afghan e-visa portal (evisa.afghanistan.gov.af) and complete the application form. Upload your passport scan, photo, and supporting documents. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card.
2
Wait for approval
Processing typically takes 3–5 business days, but can take longer. Check your email for the approval notification. Do not book non-refundable flights until you have the e-visa in hand.
3
Print or save your e-visa
Once approved, download the e-visa PDF. Print a physical copy and also keep a digital copy on your phone. You will need to show it at check-in and at Afghan immigration.
4
Arrive at Kabul International Airport
At Kabul (KBL), proceed to the immigration hall after landing. Present your passport and e-visa to the officer. They may ask about your purpose of visit and where you are staying. Answer clearly and have your hotel booking ready.
5
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with your entry date and the number of days you are allowed to stay. Check the stamp before leaving the counter — if the dates look wrong, ask for correction immediately.
