Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for an Azerbaijan eVisa at evisa.gov.az at least 3 working days before travel. The eVisa costs $25 USD and is valid for a single entry up to 30 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Azerbaijan. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by law, but airlines may enforce 6 months validity — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Baku Heydar Aliyev Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from a host can speed up the immigration process. Officers may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay, such as a bank statement or credit card. While not always checked, having at least $50 USD per day available can prevent issues at the border.Recommended
eVisa is the only option for tourism
Jordanian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival for Azerbaijan. You must apply for the eVisa before you travel. The official website is evisa.gov.az — avoid third-party sites that charge extra.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Azerbaijan, not from your departure date. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gov.az, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 3 business days, but can be as fast as 3 hours if you pay the urgent fee.
2
Receive your eVisa by email
Once approved, you'll get a PDF eVisa via email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. The visa is electronically linked to your passport, but having a physical copy avoids any issues.
3
Arrive at Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) in Baku
At immigration, present your passport and the printed eVisa (or show it on your phone). The officer will scan your passport and stamp you in. The process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over the duty-free limit.
