You may need to show you have at least 50 EUR per day for your stay. A recent bank statement or a credit card with sufficient limit works.Recommended
Apply well in advance
Bulgarian visa processing can take up to 30 days, and appointments at the embassy may be limited. Start your application at least 6 weeks before your trip to avoid last-minute stress.
Schengen visa accepted
If you already hold a valid Schengen visa (from any Schengen country), you can enter Bulgaria without applying for a separate Bulgarian visa — as long as your Schengen visa is valid for the entire duration of your stay.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a visa at the Bulgarian embassy
Contact the Bulgarian embassy in Amman (or the nearest embassy if you're outside Jordan). Schedule an appointment, submit your application form, passport, photos, flight and hotel bookings, travel insurance, and bank statements. Pay the visa fee (around €80 for adults). Processing takes 15–30 days.
2
Wait for visa approval
The embassy will process your application. You may be called for an interview. Once approved, your passport will be returned with the visa sticker. Check the visa validity dates carefully.
3
Arrive in Bulgaria
At Sofia Airport (SOF) or any other entry point, join the 'All Passports' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and proof of accommodation. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in — usually for the duration of your visa.
