Jordanian passport holders must get an eVisa before traveling to Benin. The entire process is online: you apply, receive approval by email, and show it at immigration. As of 2026, this is the only way to get a visa for tourism or business.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Required before travel
Apply for a Benin eVisa at evisa.gouv.bj/en before you fly. The application takes about 15 minutes — upload a passport photo and your passport data page. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week ahead.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Jordanian passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure from Benin. Benin immigration checks this at the border — if your passport expires sooner, they may deny entry.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Benin immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready at passport control.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or a letter of invitation from your host in Benin can speed things up. Immigration rarely asks, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. Benin doesn't have a fixed minimum, but officers may ask if you look underfunded.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination card (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport. Get the shot at least 10 days before you travel.
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Jordanian passport holders. Apply online at evisa.gouv.bj/en at least a week before your trip. The approval comes by email — print it or save the PDF on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.bj/en. Fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (30,000 XOF, about $50 USD) by credit card. You'll get a confirmation email within a few days.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2–5 business days. Check your spam folder. Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print it or save it on your phone — you'll show it at immigration.
3
Arrive at Cotonou Airport (COO)
At the airport, go to the immigration desk. Hand over your passport and the eVisa approval. They'll stamp you in. The whole process takes about 10 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Exit Benin
When you leave, you don't need to show the eVisa again. Just your passport and boarding pass. If you overstay, you'll pay a fine at the airport before departure.
