Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the full 30 days you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket at the border. A flight out to any destination works — it doesn't have to be back to Jordan. Budget airlines are especially strict about this at check-in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Officers rarely ask for this, but having a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host speeds things up if questioned. A simple booking.com reservation printout works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Hong Kong doesn't publish a minimum amount, but carrying around 3,000 HKD in cash or having a credit card with a decent limit covers you. I've never been asked, but a bank statement on your phone is enough.Recommended
Keep your landing slip
When you go through immigration, you'll get a small landing slip. Don't lose it — you'll need to hand it back when you leave Hong Kong. Hotels may also ask to see it.
No visa-free extension
You cannot extend the 30-day visa-free stay. If you think you might need more time, apply for a visa before you travel. Overstaying can lead to fines up to 50,000 HKD and a ban.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before you fly
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), print or save your return ticket and hotel booking, and grab a travel insurance policy. Also get an eSIM or local SIM so you're connected on arrival.
2
Fill out the arrival card on the plane
You'll get a small white arrival/departure card from the flight crew. Fill it out in blue or black ink — name, passport number, flight number, address in Hong Kong. Keep it with your passport.
3
Go through immigration at Hong Kong International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the 'Visitors' queue. Hand over your passport, arrival card, and any requested documents. The officer will stamp you in and give you a landing slip. Keep that slip safe — you'll need it when you leave.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, head to the baggage claim carousels, then go through customs (green channel if nothing to declare). You're free to enter Hong Kong.

It's not routinely checked, but immigration officers can ask. Have a bank statement or credit card ready. A good rule of thumb is to have at least 500 HKD per day of your stay.
