Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Seychelles. No 6-month validity rule applies here — just cover your stay dates. Airlines at check-in may still ask for 6 months, so carry a printout of the official Seychelles immigration policy if you're cutting it close.Required
Seychelles Travel Authorization (eTA)
Apply online before departure
All visitors must apply for a Travel Authorization at seychelles.govtas.com before flying. Upload your passport, flight details, and accommodation booking — approval takes a few hours to a couple of days. Print the approval email and keep it with your passport; immigration checks it on arrival.Apply for Travel AuthorizationRequired
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Seychelles
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket at the border. A flight booking out of Seychelles within 90 days works — they don't care if it's refundable. Airlines also check this before boarding, so have the itinerary ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Seychelles ready. Immigration may ask for it during the entry interview, especially if you're staying at a private residence. A simple booking.com PDF on your phone suffices.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. Seychelles is expensive — $100–150 per day is a safe estimate. Immigration rarely asks, but if you look underprepared, they might.Recommended
Seychelles is expensive — plan your budget
Seychelles is one of the most expensive destinations in Africa. A simple meal can cost $20–30, and accommodation starts at $100 per night for basic guesthouses. Make sure you have enough funds for your entire stay.
No visa on arrival — this is visa-free
You don't need to apply for anything before you travel. Just show up with your valid passport, return ticket, and accommodation booking. There's no visa fee, no application, no waiting.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Seychelles International Airport (SEZ)
You'll land at the main airport on Mahé island. Follow signs to immigration. There are usually two queues: one for Seychellois and residents, one for visitors. Join the visitors queue.
2
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on your phone), and accommodation booking. The officer may ask how long you're staying and where. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport with a visitor's permit valid for up to 90 days.
3
Collect your luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over the duty-free limit. If you're carrying more than $10,000 in cash, declare it.
