Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application

Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Chad. Immigration at N'Djamena International Airport checks this strictly — airlines also enforce it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Chad
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready — they may deny boarding if you cannot show one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Chad. Immigration may ask for it during the entry interview — having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least 200,000 CFA francs (about $330 USD) in cash or a recent bank statement showing available funds. Immigration may ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine required
You must show proof of yellow fever vaccination (yellow card) upon arrival. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense.
Cash is king in Chad
ATMs are rare outside N'Djamena and often unreliable. Bring enough euros or US dollars to exchange, or withdraw CFA at the airport. Credit cards are accepted only at top-end hotels.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-visa online
Go to e-visa.td and fill out the application. You'll need a digital copy of your passport bio page, a passport-sized photo, and details of your accommodation and flight. Pay the visa fee online. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your visa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your e-visa PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at the immigration desk when you arrive at N'Djamena International Airport.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
Before you land, have your passport, visa approval, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. Keep them in your hand luggage. At immigration, you'll hand over your passport and visa, and the officer may ask to see your onward ticket.
4
Go through immigration at N'Djamena Airport
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Present your passport and visa approval. The officer will stamp your passport — check the entry stamp for the number of days granted. Then proceed to baggage claim.
