Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official Uganda eVisa portal. Processing takes 2–3 business days, so submit at least a week before departure. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will ask to see it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Jordanian passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Uganda. Uganda does not enforce a strict 6-month validity rule, but airlines may check — if your passport expires within 3 months of travel, renew it before booking.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe International Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready. Without it, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or a letter of invitation from your host speeds up the immigration process. If you're staying with friends, ask them to write a simple letter with their address and phone number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Carry a bank statement or a credit card showing you have at least $200–$300 USD available. Cash in USD is widely accepted for visa fees and expenses.Recommended
eVisa is mandatory — no visa on arrival for Jordanians
Jordanian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Uganda. You must apply and receive approval online before you travel. No exceptions.
Yellow fever vaccine recommended
While not strictly required for travelers from Jordan, Uganda is a yellow fever endemic country. The vaccine is cheap, lasts a lifetime, and avoids any hassle at the border.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive the approval by email.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Once approved, print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at Entebbe Airport immigration.
3
Arrive at Entebbe Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for 'Visitors with eVisas'. Have your passport, eVisa printout, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2–5 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. There's usually a quick bag scan. Then you're free to exit into the arrivals hall.

Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport doesn't meet the validity requirement. You can reapply with corrected information. Contact the Uganda High Commission in your region for help.
