Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Botswana. If it's even a day short, you'll be refused entry. No exceptions.
Keep a copy of your return ticket
Immigration officers at Gaborone and Maun airports often ask to see proof of onward travel. A screenshot on your phone is fine, but a printed copy is even safer.

Arrive at the airport
You'll land at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport (GBE) in Gaborone or Maun Airport (MUB). Follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'.

Queue at immigration
Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot), and accommodation booking ready.

Present documents to officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and may ask for your return ticket or accommodation. Answer questions clearly.

Get stamped in
The officer stamps your passport with a 90-day entry. Check the stamp says '90 days' before walking away. If it's less, ask politely why.

Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Botswana.
