Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Kigali Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket. Have a confirmed flight out of Rwanda within 30 days — they'll check the date matches your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Rwanda. Immigration may ask for it at the counter — a printed booking confirmation works best.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry at least $200 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but budget airlines flying into Kigali may check at check-in.Recommended
Visa on arrival is straightforward
The process at Kigali International Airport is well-organized. Have your documents ready and you'll be through in 10–20 minutes.
Carry USD cash for the visa fee
Cards are accepted but can have surcharges. Having USD 50 in cash (exact change) avoids any issues.

What happens at the border

You'll be given a short form — name, passport number, flight details, accommodation. Fill it out while queuing.
3
Submit documents and pay

4
Receive visa and proceed to passport control
