RequirementDetailsStatus
Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Kenyan passport holders get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and other land borders. Cost is 40 JOD (about $56 USD) — pay in cash (Jordanian dinars, US dollars, or euros). Have a printed hotel booking and return ticket ready at the visa counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your arrival date in Jordan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket out of Jordan. A printed itinerary or e-ticket works. Without one, you may be refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Jordan. Immigration may ask for it at the visa-on-arrival counter. A printed copy is safer than showing your phone.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa on arrival counter at Queen Alia Airport does not accept credit or debit cards. Bring 40 JOD in cash. US dollars and Euros are accepted but you'll get change in JOD at a poor rate.
Aqaba Special Economic Zone
If you enter Jordan through Aqaba (by air or sea), you may be eligible for a free visa on arrival if you stay in the Aqaba area. Ask the immigration officer about this before paying.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) or land border
After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. At AMM, these are before passport control. Join the queue, hand over your passport and the fee. You'll get a visa sticker placed in your passport.
2
Proceed to passport control
With the visa sticker, go to the immigration officer. They may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. They'll stamp you in — usually for up to 30 days.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, grab your bags from the carousel and walk through customs. There's usually no customs declaration unless you have large amounts of cash or restricted goods.
