Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Kyrgyzstan. Apply at evisa.e-gov.kg — the official government portal. Processing takes 3-5 business days, and the visa is valid for 90 days from issue. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Kenyan passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Kyrgyzstan. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Kyrgyz law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Manas International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Kyrgyzstan within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Kyrgyzstan. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card ready to demonstrate you have enough money for your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but it helps if questioned about your travel plans.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Kyrgyzstan does not offer visa on arrival for Kenyan passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. Apply at least a week in advance to avoid last-minute stress.
Keep digital copies handy
Save your eVisa PDF, flight ticket, and hotel booking on your phone. Manas Airport has free Wi-Fi, but it's slow — better to have everything downloaded before you land.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to https://evisa.e-gov.kg/ and fill out the application. You'll need a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Processing takes 3–5 working days. The fee is around $40–$60 depending on nationality.
2
Wait for approval
Check your email (and spam folder) for the approval. Print it or save the PDF on your phone. You'll show this at check-in and upon arrival in Kyrgyzstan.
3
Arrive at Manas International Airport (Bishkek)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Have your passport, eVisa printout or PDF, and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp you in. The process is usually quick — 5–10 minutes.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel. There's a customs declaration if you're carrying large amounts of cash (over $10,000 equivalent). Otherwise, just walk through the green channel.
