Transiting through Guyana

Transit visa required

Cambodian passport holders transiting through Guyana require a visa unless they are staying airside and not passing through immigration. However, Guyana does not have a formal airside transit facility at its main airports, so most passengers must clear immigration and therefore need a visa.

Exceptions & conditions
  • Diplomatic or official passport holders may be exempt under bilateral agreements.
  • Passengers with a confirmed onward ticket and who remain in the international transit area may be exempt, but this is not guaranteed due to airport layout.

Frequently asked questions

Processing usually takes about 3-5 business days, but it can take longer during peak times. Apply at least two weeks before your planned travel to be safe.
The fee is set by the Guyana Immigration Service and is payable online. Check the official e-Visa portal for the current amount — it's typically around $50 USD, but it can change.
No, the e-Visa is not extendable. You must leave before the expiry date printed on your visa. If you need to stay longer, you'd have to leave and re-enter with a new visa.
If your application is denied, you'll receive a notification. You can reapply, but first check the reason for rejection — often it's a missing document or a photo that doesn't meet specs. You can also contact the Guyana Immigration Service directly for help.
Guyana requires a yellow fever certificate if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever transmission. Cambodia isn't on that list, but if you're traveling through a risk country, you'll need the certificate. Check with your airline or the Guyanese embassy if unsure.
It's risky. Immigration officers expect a printed copy. If you can't print it, you might be turned away. Always carry a physical copy.
The e-Visa typically allows a stay of up to 30 days. Check the exact dates on your approval notice — don't overstay, as penalties can be severe.
