Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Iraq. Airlines check this at check-in and you will be denied boarding if it's shorter.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Iraq
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you may be refused entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it at the border, especially if you're arriving on a tourist eVisa.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a recent bank statement showing adequate funds. Immigration can ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
No visa on arrival for Cambodians
You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. There are no exceptions — immigration will not let you in without one.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in Iraq, not from when you leave. Check your expiry date before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.iq and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and accommodation info. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Save it to your phone and print a paper copy as backup. The eVisa is linked to your passport number — no need to carry a separate sticker.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance documents. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at an Iraqi airport and go through immigration
At Baghdad International Airport or other entry points, proceed to the immigration counter for foreign passports. Present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly and calmly.
5
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel and proceed through customs. There are no additional visa formalities on arrival if you have the eVisa.
