Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Mongolia eVisa at evisa.mn. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Chinggis Khaan Airport will stamp you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure date from Mongolia. Airlines at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Ulaanbaatar asks for a confirmed onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight out of Mongolia ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Mongolia. Border officers occasionally ask for it at arrival.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Have at least $50 USD per day available — cash, credit card, or bank statement. Immigration rarely checks, but it's a formal requirement for the eVisa.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
Cambodian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Mongolia. You must apply for the eVisa online before you travel. No exceptions.
Check your passport validity carefully
Count 6 months from the day you land in Mongolia, not from when you leave. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be turned away at the airport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.mn, fill in your details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 USD) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
You'll get an email with your eVisa approval. Download the PDF and save it on your phone. Print a copy too — some border officials prefer paper.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Make sure your passport has 6+ months validity and at least one blank page. Book your return flight and first night's accommodation. Get travel insurance if you want.
4
Arrive at Ulaanbaatar (or other entry point)
Most flights land at Chinggis Khaan International Airport (UBN). Go to the 'Foreigners' queue. Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and boarding pass. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking — have them ready on your phone.
5
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the number of days allowed (usually 30). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If something looks wrong, ask immediately.
