Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus

Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Papua New Guinea. Airlines check this before boarding, and immigration enforces it strictly.Required

Required for entry
Immigration officers ask for proof of a return or onward ticket at the border. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone. Without one, you may be denied boarding or entry.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
While not always checked, having a hotel booking or a letter of invitation ready can speed up the immigration process. If you're staying with friends, get their address and contact details written down.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask to see evidence you can support yourself during your stay. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing available funds — around 500 PGK per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
No visa on arrival
There is no visa on arrival for Cambodian passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you fly. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Papua New Guinea, not from your departure date. Double-check before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Papua New Guinea eVisa website (https://evisa.immigration.gov.pg). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and upload a passport-style photo. Pay the fee (USD 50 for tourist eVisa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print eVisa
You'll get an email with your approved eVisa. Print a copy and save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Port Moresby (Jacksons International Airport)
After landing, head to immigration. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp you in. The queue can be slow — expect 20–40 minutes.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check — declare any food, plants, or large amounts of cash. Then you're free to exit.
