Entry requirements

Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
Land at Dhaka or Chittagong airport, go to the visa-on-arrival counter before immigration. Pay $50 USD in cash (exact change preferred) and hand over two passport photos. The officer will stamp you in for up to 30 days — no pre-approval needed.Check visa rulesRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your departure date from Bangladesh
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity left from the day you leave Bangladesh. Airlines at Incheon check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, they may deny boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for visa-on-arrival entry
Immigration officers at Dhaka ask for a confirmed onward ticket before issuing the visa on arrival. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — a flexible refundable ticket works fine.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers sometimes ask where you're staying. A printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number is enough. I've been asked twice in Dhaka — better to have it ready.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a recent bank statement on your phone. I've never been asked, but a few travellers I met at the counter were.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash — no cards, no mobile payments. Bring $51 USD (or equivalent) in exact change. ATMs are available after immigration, but you'll need the visa first.
Photo booth available but slow
There's a photo booth at Dhaka airport near the visa counter, but it can be slow and crowded. Bring your own passport photo to save time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the airport
Land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka, or other international airports like Chittagong or Sylhet. Follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' before immigration.
2
Fill out the application form
Pick up a visa-on-arrival form at the counter. Fill in your details: name, passport number, address in Bangladesh, purpose of visit. Keep it simple — 'tourism' is fine.
3
Pay the fee
Hand over your form, passport, photo, and $51 USD (or equivalent) at the payment counter. Get a receipt.
4
Receive your visa
Wait a few minutes while they process it. They'll stamp or stick the visa into your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away.
5
Proceed to immigration
Now go to the regular immigration counter. Show your passport with the new visa, your boarding pass, and any other documents if asked. You're in.
