South Korean passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cameroon. The eVisa system launched in 2020 and is the standard way to get permission to travel. Plan ahead — processing can take up to a week.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before departure
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before you fly. Processing takes 72 hours — do not wait until the last minute. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your South Korean passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Cameroon. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Officers may ask where you are staying — having proof avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around 500,000 XAF or equivalent) to show you can support yourself during your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but it is better to have it.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport — which costs time and money.
Currency and cash
Cameroon uses the Central African CFA franc (XAF). Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and some restaurants in Yaoundé and Douala, but cash is king everywhere else. Bring euros or US dollars to exchange — ATMs are unreliable outside big cities.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $100–$150 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — typically 3–7 business days.
2
Print your eVisa and pack documents
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF by email. Print at least one copy. Also print your flight itinerary and hotel booking. Keep these together in a folder for immigration.
3
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
Most international flights land at Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport or Douala International Airport. Go to the immigration counter, hand over your passport, eVisa printout, and boarding pass. The officer will stamp you in. The process usually takes 5–10 minutes if your documents are ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim. Then head to customs — green channel if you have nothing to declare, red channel if you have goods over the duty-free limit. Exit into the arrivals hall.

Yes, but it's not automatic. You must apply for an extension at the immigration office in Yaoundé or Douala before your eVisa expires. Extensions are typically granted for 30 days and cost around $50–$100. Start the process at least a week before your current visa expires.
Overstaying can result in a fine of about $50–$100 per month, and you may be flagged for future visits. In serious cases, you could be detained or deported. Always extend or leave before your visa expires.
