Visa on arrival
Visa on arrival
South Korean passport holders can get a visa on arrival at Queen Alia International Airport and other land/sea borders. The visa costs 40 JOD for single entry (valid 1 month) or 60 JOD for multiple entry (valid 3 months). Pay in cash — Jordanian dinars or major credit cards accepted at the visa counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Jordan. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Queen Alia Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before issuing the visa on arrival. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they may check the date matches your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Jordan. Officers rarely ask for it, but if you're flagged for secondary inspection, they'll want to see where you're staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Have access to at least 500 JOD (around $700 USD) in cash or on a card. Immigration may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay — showing a bank statement or credit card works fine.Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash — 40 JOD per person. ATMs are available after immigration, but you need cash before that. Bring Jordanian Dinars or US Dollars/Euros from home. Exchange rates at the airport are poor.
Jordan Pass: skip the visa fee
If you're staying at least 3 nights in Jordan, consider buying a Jordan Pass online before you travel. It includes entry to over 40 attractions (including Petra) and waives the visa-on-arrival fee. You still get the visa on arrival, but you don't pay the 40 JOD. The pass costs 70-80 JOD depending on how many days at Petra you want.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM)
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' counters before passport control. These are clearly marked and located in the arrivals hall.
2
Fill out the visa application form
A short form is provided at the counter. It asks for basic info: name, passport number, flight details, and address in Jordan. Fill it out while queuing.
3
Pay the visa fee
Hand over 40 JOD cash to the officer. They'll give you a receipt. Keep it safe — you'll need it for the next step.
4
Get your visa sticker
The officer will stamp a visa sticker into your passport. Check that the dates are correct (entry and expiry). Then proceed to passport control.
5
Pass through immigration
At the passport control booth, present your passport with the visa sticker and your boarding pass. They may ask for your return ticket or hotel booking — have them ready.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, but only at Queen Alia International Airport (AMM) in Amman, the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby) from the West Bank, and the Aqaba port. Land borders with Syria and Iraq do not offer visa on arrival for South Koreans. If you're entering via the King Hussein Bridge, note that the process can be slower and you may need to pay in USD or JOD cash.
The standard visa on arrival is valid for 30 days from the date of entry. You can extend it once at a police station in Jordan for an additional 30 days, but you must apply before the first 30 days expire. The extension costs about 20 JOD.
No. The visa-on-arrival fee must be paid in cash — Jordanian Dinars (JOD) are preferred, but US Dollars or Euros are accepted at some counters with a poor exchange rate. Have exact change if possible. There are ATMs after immigration, but you need cash before that.
Overstaying costs 1.5 JOD per day for the first 30 days, then 3 JOD per day after that. You pay at the airport before departure. It's not a huge fine, but it can cause delays at immigration. Best to extend or leave on time.
Yes. You need proof that you're leaving Jordan — either a return flight to your home country or an onward ticket to another destination. A bus ticket to Israel or a flight to Egypt works. Immigration may ask to see it.
No. The visa on arrival is single-entry. If you leave Jordan (even for a day trip to Israel or the West Bank), you'll need a new visa when you come back. Plan your itinerary accordingly.
Yes. Children of any nationality (including South Korean) can get a visa on arrival under the same conditions. The fee is the same — 40 JOD per person. Minors need their own passport and the same documents as adults.
