Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your South Korean passport needs to be valid for the entire time you're in Monaco. The Schengen zone does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but some airlines may still ask for it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at the French border (you enter Monaco via France) routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight, train, or bus booking out of the Schengen zone within 90 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Keep a copy of your hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter of invitation from your host. Border officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the French entry point.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to roughly €65–€100 per day of your stay. French border police may ask for this if you look like you're working or overstaying.Recommended
Schengen 90/180 rule applies
Your 90-day visa-free stay in Monaco counts toward your total Schengen allowance. If you've already spent time in other Schengen countries, check your remaining days before you go.
No border control between France and Monaco
There are no passport checks when crossing from France into Monaco. But you still need to meet Schengen entry requirements — your passport will be checked when you enter France at Nice Airport.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Nice Airport (France)
You'll fly into Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) in France. After landing, follow signs to 'Sortie' (Exit) or 'Bagages' (Baggage Claim). You'll pass through French border control — show your passport and return ticket if asked.
2
Take a bus or helicopter to Monaco
From Nice Airport, take Bus 110 (€22, 50 minutes) or a helicopter (€170, 7 minutes) to Monaco. No additional border checks — Monaco is a de facto part of the Schengen zone.
3
Check in at your accommodation
At your hotel or Airbnb, show your passport and booking confirmation. They may take a copy of your passport for registration — standard procedure.
