South Korean passport holders can travel to Norway visa-free for up to 90 days. This covers tourism, business visits, and family visits. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay in Norway
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Norway. Unlike some countries, Norway does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date — just cover your stay. Airlines may still enforce the 6-month rule, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Norwegian border control routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to a third country ready. This applies to all Schengen zone entries — the 90-day limit is across the entire Schengen area, not just Norway.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
While not mandatory, having a hotel booking or an invitation letter from a host speeds up the immigration process. Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A simple printout of your first night's booking works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
You don't need to show a bank statement unless asked, but have access to at least 500 NOK per day of your stay. Immigration officers rarely check this for South Korean passport holders, but carrying a credit card and some cash (around 2,000 NOK) covers you.Recommended
Schengen area rules
Norway is part of the Schengen area. Your 90-day visa-free stay applies to all 27 Schengen countries combined. Keep track of your days — overstaying in any Schengen country affects your entire Schengen access.
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your entry date. If it expires sooner, renew it before you travel. Airlines may deny boarding if your passport doesn't meet this requirement.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Norwegian airport
When you land at Oslo Gardermoen or any other Norwegian airport, follow signs to 'Passport Control' (non-EU/EEA queue). Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will check your passport, ask about your trip purpose and length of stay, then stamp you in.
2
Border crossing by land or sea
If arriving by ferry from Denmark, Germany, or Sweden, you'll go through passport control at the port. Same rules apply — have your passport and return ticket ready.
3
During your stay
You can stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Keep your passport safe. If you need to extend (e.g., for medical reasons), apply at the local police station before your 90 days expire.
