Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Ukraine. Ukraine does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but airlines may still check for it at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border guards may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A hotel confirmation or a letter from a host with their address and phone number covers this.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Ukraine does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but carrying at least $50 USD per day in cash or having a bank statement showing available funds avoids any questions at the border.Recommended
Overstay penalties are strict
Staying beyond 90 days can result in a fine of up to 5,100 UAH (about $140) and a ban from re-entering Ukraine for up to 3 years. Set a reminder to leave on time.
Keep your entry stamp safe
The entry stamp in your passport is your proof of legal stay. If you lose it or it gets damaged, contact the State Migration Service immediately to get a replacement before you leave.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at any Ukrainian border checkpoint
You'll enter through Kyiv Boryspil (KBP), Lviv (LWO), or a land border from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, or Moldova. At the passport control booth, hand over your passport and any requested documents.
2
Present your passport and supporting documents
The officer will check your passport validity, blank page, and may ask for your return ticket or accommodation proof. Answer questions clearly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date and allowed stay.
3
Collect your passport and proceed
Once stamped, you're free to enter. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it for exit. No visa fee, no additional forms.
