South Korean passport holders need an e-Visa to enter Uganda. The process is entirely online, and you'll receive an approval letter before you fly. As of 2026, there is no visa-on-arrival option for tourists, so complete this before your trip.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply for a Uganda eVisa before travel
Apply online at the Uganda eVisa portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa costs $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa and is processed within 3-5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your South Korean passport needs at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Uganda strictly enforces the 6-month validity rule — airlines check this at check-in, and you will be denied boarding if your passport expires sooner.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel required
Immigration officers at Entebbe routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before granting entry. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — they will not let you through without one.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask where you are staying — having a booking confirmation speeds up the process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have at least $300 USD in cash or a credit card statement ready. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you have enough for your trip.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
There is no visa-on-arrival for South Korean passport holders. You must have the e-Visa approval letter before you fly. Apply at least a week in advance.
Yellow fever vaccine recommended
While not strictly required for direct travel from South Korea, Uganda is a yellow fever endemic country. Carry your vaccination certificate — immigration may ask for it, especially if you've traveled elsewhere in Africa recently.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the e-Visa online
Go to the official Uganda e-Visa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in the application, upload your passport scan and a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive your approval letter
Once approved, you'll get an email with an approval letter. Print it out and keep a digital copy on your phone. You'll need to show this at check-in and on arrival.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' / 'Immigration'. Present your passport, approval letter, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes if you have all documents ready.
4
Get your passport stamped
The officer will stamp your passport with the entry date and the number of days allowed (usually 90 days for a single-entry visa). Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
