Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity beyond your intended departure from Lebanon. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Lebanon
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Lebanon. Officers occasionally ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked hotel.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have access to at least $1,000 USD or equivalent in cash, credit cards, or bank statements. Immigration may ask how you'll support yourself during your visit.Recommended
Political situation can change quickly
Lebanon's security situation can shift with little notice. Check your government's travel advisories (e.g., UK FCDO, US State Department) a few days before departure and while you're there. Have a backup plan for leaving if needed.
Cash is king in Lebanon
ATMs often run out of USD or LBP, and many places don't accept cards. Bring enough USD cash for your stay — you can exchange at local shops or banks. Credit cards work at major hotels and some restaurants, but not everywhere.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Beirut Airport
You'll land at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY). Follow signs to 'Passport Control' — it's a single queue for all non-Lebanese passports. Have your passport and return ticket screenshot ready.
2
Present your passport at immigration
Hand over your passport to the officer. They'll check your validity (6+ months), stamp you in, and wave you through. No forms to fill, no fee to pay. The whole process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall — taxis and car rentals are just outside.
