What happens at the border

Apply for the eVisa
Go to evisa.kdmid.ru and fill out the online application. You'll need your passport details, a digital photo, and travel dates. Processing usually takes 4–20 days.

Receive eVisa Approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa. Print a copy or save it on your phone. The eVisa is valid for 60 days from issue, but you can only stay up to 16 days per entry.

Pack Your Documents
Before you leave, gather: passport (6+ months validity), eVisa printout, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in your carry-on.

Arrive at Russian Immigration
At the airport, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket or hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get an entry stamp.

Complete Migration Registration
Within 7 days of arrival, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office. If you're in a hotel, they handle it automatically. If staying with friends, you need to do it yourself at the nearest MVD office.
