Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Ukraine. Ukraine does not require 6 months of validity beyond your departure date, but your airline might enforce this — check with them before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within the 90-day visa-free window.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb receipt, or a notarized invitation from a Ukrainian host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having one avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Immigration may ask to see it if you look underfunded or are staying a long time.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Ukraine. If it's even one day short, you'll be refused boarding or entry. Check your passport's expiry date before booking flights.
Keep a copy of your return ticket
Immigration officers may ask to see proof of onward travel. A screenshot or printed copy is fine. Without it, you could be questioned or delayed.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
At Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, or any land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will check your passport validity, stamp you in, and you're done — usually under 5 minutes.
2
Show your documents
Hand over your passport. If asked, show your return ticket (printed or on phone) and accommodation booking. No visa form to fill. The officer may ask your purpose of visit — just say 'tourism' or 'business'.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp is legible before walking away. That stamp is your permission to stay up to 90 days.
