Sufficient funds for your stay
Carry evidence of at least $200 USD per day to cover the Sustainable Development Fee and personal expenses. Credit cards work in major hotels, but bring cash for smaller shops.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
Kazakhstan passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Bhutan. You must apply and receive approval before you travel. No exceptions.
Passport validity counts from arrival

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Bhutan eVisa website. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee (around $40 USD) with a credit card. Processing takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Save it on your phone and print a copy. The visa is linked to your passport number, so you don't need to carry the paper, but it's good to have.
3
Arrive at Paro International Airport
At immigration, present your passport and the eVisa approval (digital or printed). The officer will stamp you in. Have your return ticket and hotel booking ready in case they ask. The whole process takes about 5–10 minutes.

The eVisa fee is around $40 USD. You pay online with a credit card during the application. There are no additional charges at the airport.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. You must leave by the date stamped in your passport. If you need more time, you'd have to apply for a new visa from outside the country.
Not strictly — the visa is linked to your passport number. But having a printed copy or the PDF on your phone is smart in case of any system issues at immigration.
You won't be allowed to board your flight. Renew your passport first, then apply for the eVisa. The 6-month validity is counted from your arrival date in Bhutan.
It's not officially required for the eVisa, but it's strongly recommended. Medical costs in Bhutan can be high, and insurance covers emergencies, hospital stays, and evacuation.
The only practical entry point for tourists is Paro International Airport. There are land borders with India, but they're not open for regular tourist entry. Fly into Paro.
