Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire period you plan to stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Belarusian law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month rule — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Border officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound booking ready. This applies even for visa-free stays.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Immigration may ask where you are staying. A hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host works. If staying with friends, have their contact details and address written down.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Officers can request evidence of sufficient funds. Carry at least €50 per day of your stay in cash or a credit card with a recent bank statement. This is rarely checked for short visits but better to have it.Recommended
No visa needed for stays up to 90 days
Kazakhstan passport holders can enter Belarus visa-free for tourism, business, or transit. This applies to all border crossings — air, land, and rail. No prior application or fee required.
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Belarus. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you travel. Border officers are strict about this.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at border checkpoint
Whether flying into Minsk National Airport (MSQ) or crossing by land from Russia, you'll go through passport control. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present passport and answer questions
The officer will check your passport, ask your purpose of visit (tourism, business, etc.), and may ask for your return ticket or accommodation. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay period. Check the stamp before walking away — make sure the dates are correct.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if flying), then customs. Unless you're carrying large sums of cash or restricted goods, you'll walk straight through.
