Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in the Dominican Republic. Airlines at Almaty and Nur-Sultan check this before boarding — if your passport expires before you leave, you won't fly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Dominican Republic
Immigration officers at Punta Cana and Santo Domingo routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a digital version on your phone ready — they won't let you through without it.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number. Officers at the border sometimes ask where you're staying — having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your trip. Immigration may ask for proof of financial means, especially if you're staying longer than a few days.Recommended
E-Ticket must be done within 72 hours
The Dominican Republic E-Ticket form is only valid if completed within 72 hours of your flight. Doing it earlier will result in a rejected QR code at immigration. Set a reminder.
Tourist card is now digital
The old paper tourist card you used to buy at the airport is gone. Everything is handled through the E-Ticket system. No need to pay at the counter — just show your QR code.

What happens at the border

1
Complete the E-Ticket online
Go to https://eticket.migracion.gob.do/ within 72 hours of your flight. Fill in your personal details, flight info, and accommodation. You'll get a QR code — save it on your phone or print it.
2
Arrive at any Dominican airport
At Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, or La Romana, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' or 'Non-Residents'. Have your passport, QR code, and return ticket ready.
3
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport and show your E-Ticket QR code. The officer may ask how long you're staying and where. Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport — usually valid for 30 days.
4
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, pick up your bags and go through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. Keep your passport stamp visible.
