Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Dili Airport routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight within 30 days. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they may not accept a verbal explanation.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Timor-Leste. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if they do, having it ready avoids delays.Recommended

Financial means
Have at least $500 USD in cash or a credit card statement showing available funds. Immigration officers rarely check this, but the law requires you to show sufficient means for your stay.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa-on-arrival counter only takes US dollars in cash. There are no ATMs before immigration. Bring $30 USD in exact change. Larger bills may not be accepted if no change is available.
Visa on arrival only at Dili Airport
If you plan to enter Timor-Leste overland from Indonesia (Batugade border crossing), you must arrange a visa in advance. The visa on arrival is not available at land borders.

Frequently asked questions

No. The visa on arrival is not extendable. You must leave before the 30 days expire. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type before travel — but this is rarely granted for tourism.
Only US dollars are accepted at the visa-on-arrival counter. There are no ATMs before immigration. If you arrive without cash, you may be refused entry. Bring exact change — the officers don't always have change for larger bills.
No. The visa on arrival is only available at Dili's Presidente Nicolau dos Santos Lobato International Airport. If you enter overland from Indonesia (at the Batugade border crossing), you must have a pre-arranged visa.
Not required for Kazakhstan passport holders arriving directly. But if you've recently been in a country with yellow fever (e.g., parts of Africa or South America), you may need proof of vaccination. Check with your airline.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll be fined approximately $30 USD per day of overstay, and you may be detained or banned from re-entry. Always leave before your 30 days are up.
No. The visa on arrival is single-entry. If you leave Timor-Leste (even for a day trip to Indonesia), you'll need to pay for a new visa on arrival when you return.
No. There is no e-visa system for Timor-Leste. The only option for Kazakh citizens is the visa on arrival at Dili Airport.
