Kazakhstan passport holders can enter Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This has been the case since 2017 and remains in effect for 2026. Just make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Ukraine. Ukraine does not require 6 months of remaining validity beyond your departure date, but your airline might enforce this — check with them before you fly.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Ukraine
Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and Lviv airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they want to see you leave within the 90-day visa-free window.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border guards may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a hotel reservation. Have a printed booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host with their address and phone number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Ukraine does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but officers expect to see cash, a credit card, or a bank statement covering your stay. A daily budget of around $50 USD per person is a safe benchmark.Recommended
War zone — travel with caution
Ukraine is under a state of martial law due to the Russian invasion. Air raid alerts are common. Avoid areas near the front lines (east and south). Register with your embassy on arrival. Travel insurance may not cover war-related incidents.
No visa, no registration
Kazakh citizens don't need a visa or any pre-arrival registration. Just show up with a valid passport. No need to fill out any online forms before traveling.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Ukrainian border
At any international airport (Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, Odesa) or land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready.
2
Present your passport
Hand over your passport. The officer will check your photo, validity, and may ask your purpose of visit (tourism, business, etc.). Answer briefly and honestly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the entry date. This stamp shows your allowed stay — usually 90 days. Check the stamp before leaving the booth.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if applicable), then customs. No separate visa or registration form is needed.
