Laos passport holders need an eVisa to enter Armenia. You apply online before traveling and show the approved visa at the border. Since 2026, this is the standard entry method for Lao citizens.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for an Armenian eVisa at evisa.mfa.am at least 3 working days before departure. The eVisa costs 8,000 AMD (about $20 USD) for single entry, valid for up to 120 days. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport — border control will scan the QR code on it.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Lao passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Armenia. Border officers at Zvartnots Airport check this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Armenian border control asks for proof of onward travel — a return flight or a ticket to your next destination. Airlines at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane also check this before issuing a boarding pass.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Have a hotel booking or an invitation letter from a host ready. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if you arrive without a clear address, they may question your plans.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Carry cash or a bank statement showing at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Armenia is not a high-surveillance country for funds, but having proof avoids delays if asked.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
There is no visa on arrival for Lao passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Apply at least a week in advance.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport scan, and hotel booking on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printed copy, digital versions can save you at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Armenian eVisa portal at https://evisa.mfa.am. Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but apply at least a week before your trip to be safe.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get the eVisa by email. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at immigration when you arrive.
3
Prepare your documents for the border
Before you fly, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, and first night hotel booking. Keep them in your hand luggage, not checked bags.
4
Arrive at Yerevan airport and go through immigration
At Zvartnots International Airport (EVN) in Yerevan, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp and can enter. The whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes if your documents are ready.
