Lebanese passport holders need a visa to enter the United Kingdom. You must apply for a Standard Visitor visa before you travel — there is no visa-on-arrival or eVisa option for Lebanese nationals. Plan ahead, as the application process involves an online form, an appointment at a visa application centre, and a decision that can take several weeks.

What happens at the border

1
Complete the online application
Go to gov.uk/standard-visitor-visa, create an account, and fill out the application form. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and information about your employment or studies. Double-check everything before submitting — mistakes can delay your application.
2
Pay the visa fee and book biometrics
After submitting the form, pay the £115 fee online. Then book an appointment at the UK Visa Application Centre in Beirut. Appointments are usually available within a few days, but can be busier during peak seasons (summer, Christmas).
3
Attend the biometric appointment
Go to the VAC in Beirut on your scheduled date. Bring your printed application form, your passport, and your supporting documents. You'll have your fingerprints scanned and a photo taken. The staff will also check your documents and may keep your passport for processing.
4
Wait for a decision
Standard processing takes about 3 weeks, but it can be longer during peak times. You can track your application online using the reference number from your appointment. You'll receive an email when a decision is made, and your passport will be returned to you via the VAC (either by courier or collection).
5
Travel to the UK
Once you have your visa vignette (sticker) in your passport, you can travel. At UK border control, present your passport to the Border Force officer. They may ask about your trip, accommodation, and funds. Have your supporting documents handy in case they ask to see them.

Frequently asked questions

Standard processing takes about 3 weeks after your biometric appointment. However, it can take longer during peak periods (May–September). You can pay extra for priority processing (currently around £250) to get a decision within 5 working days, but this is not always available in Beirut — check with the VAC.
No. You must submit the online form and then attend an in-person biometric appointment at the UK Visa Application Centre in Beirut. There is no eVisa option for Lebanese passport holders.
The Standard Visitor visa allows a maximum stay of 6 months per visit. You cannot extend it while in the UK, and you must leave before the visa expires.
Yes. You need to show you can support yourself during your stay. Bank statements for the last 6 months are the most common evidence. There's no fixed amount, but a general rule is to have at least £100 per day of your stay, plus funds for accommodation and return travel.
No. The Standard Visitor visa is for tourism, visiting family, or business meetings. You cannot take up employment, study for more than 30 days, or access public funds. If you want to work or study, you need a different visa category.
You'll receive a refusal letter explaining the reasons. You can reapply, but you'll need to address the issues raised — for example, providing more evidence of ties to Lebanon. The visa fee is non-refundable, so it's worth getting your application right the first time.
If you have a valid UK residence permit (BRP) or a visa for the UK, you can travel to the UK without a separate visitor visa. However, a visa for another country (like the US or Schengen) does not exempt you from needing a UK visa.
