Apply at embassy/consulate
Sri Lankan passport holders must obtain a Cuban visa (Tourist Card) before travel. Apply at the nearest Cuban embassy or consulate; no eVisa is available for Sri Lankan citizens.Required
Passport validityIf your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the visa.
At least 6 months beyond arrival
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Cuba (2026). Ensure it does not expire before February 2027.Required

Return or onward ticketCuban immigration may ask to see your outbound flight booking before granting entry.
Proof of departure
You must present a confirmed return or onward ticket showing departure from Cuba within the authorized stay period (typically 30 days).Required
Proof of fundsNot always asked, but having proof avoids problems if an officer requests it.
Sufficient for your stay
Be ready to show evidence of sufficient funds (cash, credit cards, or bank statements) to cover your expenses during your stay in Cuba.Recommended
Travel health insuranceYou may be asked to show proof of insurance at immigration; if you lack it, you may have to buy a Cuban policy on arrival.

Accommodation confirmationImmigration may ask where you will be staying; having a booking speeds up the process.
Hotel or casa particular booking
Carry a printed or digital confirmation of your accommodation in Cuba (hotel reservation or casa particular booking).Recommended
Arrival declarationYou do not need to fill out any additional online declaration before travel.
Not required
No separate arrival declaration form is required for Sri Lankan citizens entering Cuba. Not required
No visa, no boarding
Airlines will not let you board a flight to Cuba without a valid visa. There is no way to get one at the airport in Havana. Get your visa well in advance.
US credit/debit cards don't work
Due to US sanctions, cards issued by US banks are not accepted in Cuba. Bring enough cash (Euros or Canadian dollars are best) or use cards from non-US banks.
Passport validity is strict
Cuban immigration enforces the 6-month validity rule. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied entry — even if you have a visa. Check your passport now.

What happens at the border

1
Get your visa from a Cuban embassy
Locate the Cuban embassy or consulate covering Sri Lanka (often in New Delhi, India, or another regional post). Submit your application in person or by mail, depending on the embassy's rules. Include your passport, photos, and visa fee. Wait for processing — typically 5–10 business days.
2
Book flights and accommodation
Once you have your visa, book your flights to Havana (HAV) and reserve a hotel or casa particular. Print all confirmations — you'll need them for immigration.
3
Pack your documents
Carry your passport with visa, return ticket, accommodation proof, travel insurance policy, and proof of funds in your hand luggage. Keep copies separately.
4
Check in and fly
At check-in, the airline will verify your visa and may ask for your return ticket and insurance. Without a valid visa, you won't be allowed to board.
5
Arrive at Havana's José Martí International Airport
After landing, go through immigration. Present your passport, visa, and any requested documents. You'll get an entry stamp. Then collect your bags and proceed through customs — you may be asked to declare goods.
