Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Qatar. Apply through the Hukoomi portal at hukoomi.gov.qa — the process takes about 15 minutes and costs around QAR 100 (approx $27 USD). Approval usually comes within 3–5 working days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Qatar. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Hamad International Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Qatar. Immigration may ask for it if you look unsure about where you are staying — having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least QAR 2,000 (approx $550 USD) available. Officers rarely ask for it, but if they do, you need to show you have enough for your stay.Recommended
Passport validity is critical
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Qatar. If it expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa. Airlines check this at check-in — you could be denied boarding.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa, return ticket, and hotel booking as screenshots or PDFs on your phone. Also email copies to yourself. If you lose your printed documents, you'll still have access.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi portal (hukoomi.gov.qa), select the eVisa service, and fill in your details. Upload a scanned copy of your passport bio page and a passport-sized photo. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 working days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa PDF. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and at immigration in Doha.
3
Prepare your documents for travel
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance. Keep them in a single folder or digital album on your phone.
4
Arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Join the queue for 'Visitors' or 'Foreign Passports'. Hand over your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. You'll get a stamp and be free to enter.
