Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg at least 5 business days before departure. The eVisa covers tourism and short business visits — single entry, valid for 15 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Sri Lankan passport needs at least one blank page for the entry stamp. Togo does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your stay.Required
Return or onward ticket
Immigration may ask for proof
Togo immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel at Lomé Airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Immigration rarely checks this for short stays, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least 200,000 CFA francs (about $330 USD) in cash or a recent bank statement showing sufficient funds. Togo immigration may ask to see this if you look underprepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter Togo. Immigration checks this at the airport. No card means possible denial of entry or on-the-spot vaccination.
Local currency and cash
Togo uses the West African CFA franc (XOF). ATMs are available in Lomé but not everywhere. Carry some euros or US dollars as backup — they can be exchanged at banks and hotels.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50–$80 depending on processing speed) and submit. You'll receive the eVisa by email within 3–7 business days.
2
Pack your documents
Print a copy of your eVisa, your passport (with 6+ months validity), your return or onward ticket, and your first night hotel booking. Save digital copies on your phone as backup.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, head to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa, and return ticket. They may ask for your hotel address. The process is usually quick — 10–15 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check but it's usually relaxed for tourists. You're free to go.
