Required for visa on arrival
Immigration officers at Dhaka airport ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket before issuing the visa on arrival. Have a printed copy or the booking on your phone ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended but not always checked
Have a hotel booking or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended but not always checked
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a bank statement showing sufficient funds. Immigration rarely asks, but it helps if questioned about your ability to support yourself.Recommended
Cash only — no cards accepted
The visa on arrival counter only takes cash. Bring US dollars or euros in good condition (no tears, no marks). Bangladeshi Taka is also accepted, but you'll need to exchange money before reaching the counter.
Visa on arrival only at Dhaka airport
This facility is only available at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC). If you're entering Bangladesh by land or at a different airport, you must get a visa in advance from a Bangladeshi embassy.

What happens at the border

1
Land at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka
Most international flights arrive here. After deplaning, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' — it's before the main immigration counters. The counter is usually on the left side of the arrivals hall.
2
Fill out the visa application form
You'll get a small form at the counter. Fill in your details: name, passport number, flight number, hotel address, and intended length of stay. Bring a pen — they rarely have extras.
3
Submit documents and pay the fee
Hand over your passport, completed form, photos, and cash. The officer will process the visa sticker. Payment is in USD, EUR, or BDT. Keep the receipt.
4
Receive your visa and proceed to immigration
Once the sticker is in your passport, head to the immigration line. Show your passport with the new visa, and you'll get an entry stamp. The whole process takes 15–30 minutes if there's no queue.
